We have notice that our sites wont keep up with Next Show Scripts, this is to update the site with the current playing shows. as well it effects our News Feed, Now Playing, Advertisement Rotations and in some cases pauses the live broadcast audio from being played. This is not required by EVO Media Corporation or EVO Radio, but to stay up to date on our sites we recommend making a few changes to Chrome Settings. Please dont worry, these changes dont effect security setting, all it does stops Chrome from throttling down JavaScript from doing its job.

Here is an explanation:

Problem: When a tab is inactive, like youre on a different tab, or when a window is occluded, i.e. you have another window over top of the browser window, Google chrome will pause or drastically throttle JavaScript timers. This causes excessive CPU usage, reduces battery life if you using laptopmobile and allows background tabs, Chrome will hibernate and throttle background tabs in some way regardless, running a JavaScript benchmark on a background tab demonstrates it pretty well and the real hibernations begins after 5 minutes, crippling the performance.

Here is the solution for Chrome Browsers (Note: Other browser may do the same, please search on the web Throttle Javascript timers in background on YOUR BROWSER NAME (FireFox), each browser works differently.)

Solution:

go to
chrome:flags
yes, you can type that into URL bar

in the search, type throttle

Youre going to get 3 options, the two labeled Throttle Javascript timers in background and Calculate window occlusion on Windows, probably set as default right now, turn them to disabled

bottom right corner, hit relaunch to relaunch chrome with new settings. timers should no longer be throttled when a window is tabbed out or occluded

NOTE: SINCE MOST OF OUR LISTENERES USE CHROME TO STREAM OUR STATIONS, THIS FIX IS FOR THEM, IF YOU ARE NEEDING HELP PLEASE REACH OUT TO US FOR HELP!!

THANK YOU!
