    BLOWING SNOW WARNING

ISSUED BY: ENVIRONMENT CANADA
START DATE: FRIDAY JAN 21, 2022 3:16 AM
END DATE: FRIDAY JAN 21, 2022 7:16 PM

POOR VISIBILITY IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING IN SOME LOCATIONS. A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT BROUGHT SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN THROUGH THE NIGHT HAS DEPARTED INTO MANITOBA. IN ITS WAKE, STRONG NORTHWESTERLY WINDS OF 50 GUSTING TO 70 KM/H WITH FALLING TEMPERATURES WILL DEVELOP OVER MUCH OF SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN LATER THIS MORNING. FOR SOUTHEASTERN SASKATCHEWAN, THESE CONDITIONS MAY PRODUCE A WIDESPREAD AREA OF BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS. CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE LATE IN THE DAY AS THE WINDS SUBSIDE.

TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BE HAZARDOUS DUE TO REDUCED VISIBILITY IN SOME LOCATIONS. BLOWING SNOW ADVISORIES ARE ISSUED WHEN WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO CREATE BLOWING SNOW GIVING POOR VISIBILITY TO 800 METRES OR LESS FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS. PLEASE CONTINUE TO MONITOR ALERTS AND FORECASTS ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA. TO REPORT SEVERE WEATHER, SEND AN EMAIL TO SKSTORM@EC.GC.CA OR TWEET REPORTS USING #SKSTORM.
