More than one hundred vintage and customized vehicles across Saskatchewan were showcased at the 58th Majestics Car Show in Regina. As part of the annual car show, the brightest and most unique cars were on display at the Bunge International Trade Centre at the REAL District this weekend. Lindsay Waite and his wife Leeann drove from Balgonie for the event. The two couldn’t wait to show off their electric blue 1974 Barracuda. “I bought the car in 1985 just out of high school and drove it for a few years. It was our daily driver,” Lindsay said. “Of course that rusted the body out a fair bit. It got parked after that for about 25 years. I picked away at it now and then when I could. I eventually got enough time and money to finish it in 2021.” Returning for a third year, Lindsay said he appreciates having the chance to display his vehicle among other car enthusiasts. “It’s nice having people comment on it and just hearing people’s stories about a car their dad might have had or their brother had,” he said. Another registered car owner at the event said he values the community the event draws in. “It’s the first time it’s been shown in Regina,” said Lanny Martindale, referring to his 1953 Chevrolet 1500 Pickup. “I’ve got lots of miles on it. I drove it to Chicago and back once. I enjoy driving, I drove it to the show, even.” Also known as “Snake Farm,” Martindale said one of the biggest attractions about his truck is the “snake bag” sitting at the back of the trunk. “It moves around and it’s a big thing for the kids,” he said smiling. “They get a big kick out of it.” People got a chance to vote for their favourite cars which was followed by a trophy presentation on Sunday at 4 p.m. The two-day event concluded on Sunday. The Majestics Car Club will be hosting a rod run from Aug. 28 to 30. As well as a swap meet on Sept. 26.
