RCMP in Saskatchewan are asking for the public’s help after a train part was stolen in the province’s southwest. An “End of Train Unit” was allegedly pilfered at a rail crossing in Neville, Sask. between 8 and 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, according to the provincial police service. The device is described as a red box, measuring 24 inches long and four inches thick. Ponteix RCMP is asking anyone with information relating to the theft to contact the police service or submit a tip through Saskatchewan Crimestoppers. According to Trains Magazine, an “End of Train Unit,” manages many of the tasks that were once handled by a caboose. The device monitors brake pressure, and movement at the end of train, which can sometimes stretch over the span of several kilometres.
