Crews with the Moose Jaw Fire Department (MJFD) responded to a “fully involved” blaze at a house on Friday. According to a social media post from the Moose Jaw Professional Firefighters Association, the fire started on the front porch and was already through the roof when crews arrived at the 1000 block of 8th Avenue NW. “Heavy winds made it tough, but crews contained most damage to the original structure,” the post read. Firefighters were able to gain entry quickly and rescue two dogs. No other injuries were reported but the investigation is underway. A post from the MJFD said Friday’s house fire is a reminder that emergencies can happen quickly and advises people to test smoke alarms monthly, as well as plan two ways out of every room.
