Regina’s Urgent Care Centre (UCC) will once again have its operating hours cut short on Friday. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. before returning to its regular 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. schedule on Saturday. “These service adjustments are due to physician availability and to proactively ensure the availability of services for our patients,” read a public service announcement from the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). Despite originally being envisioned and advertised as a centre that would operate 24/7, Regina’s UCC has failed to do so since it first opened in July 2024. The SHA has reported persistent issues with physician availability at the UCC, but the province has still stated its desire to build a second urgent care centre in Regina as well as a second one in Saskatoon. The SHA advised people experiencing medical emergencies to contact 9-1-1 or proceed to the nearest emergency department at Regina General Hospital or Pasqua Hospital. For non-emergency care, SHA recommended accessing information and care by calling Healthline 811, visiting a walk-in clinic, or connecting with a pharmacy.
