Two men are facing charges following an armed robbery on Broad Street North earlier this week. Officers responded to a call on the 400 block of Broad Street North at around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11. Police were told that a man was carrying a gun and running down the street near 9th Avenue North and Broad Street. The suspect got into a waiting vehicle, which then drove away. Minutes later, officers received a second call, reporting a business had just been robbed at gunpoint. Cash and cigarettes were stolen. Officers found the suspect vehicle near 8th Avenue North and Ottawa Place. When they attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle sped off but soon became stuck on a sidewalk. The driver was arrested at the scene, while the passenger fled police. A search of the area led to the passenger being found hiding in a nearby yard. Police recovered a firearm, cash, and cigarettes from the vehicle. A 29-year-old is charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm, flight from police, and operating a vehicle dangerous to the public. The 33-year-old accused faces charges of armed robbery, failing to comply with court orders, and breach of conditions. Both of the men made their first court appearance at Regina Provincial Court on Friday.
