A suspect who allegedly impersonated a police officer near Midale, Sask. has been identified as a youth, RCMP say. Weyburn RCMP officers first received a report of a potential impersonation of a police officer on Sept. 13 at around 10:40 p.m., according to a release from the Saskatchewan RCMP. A driver was travelling on a grid road near Midale, when a vehicle came up behind them with flashing blue and red emergency lights. Both vehicles slowed down before the vehicle with emergency lights fled the area. RCMP had asked the public to contact them if they believed they were being followed by an imitation police vehicle. On Tuesday, RCMP said they identified the vehicle and its driver, who is a youth. As per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, they cannot be named. RCMP say no charges have been laid and are continuing the investigation. Investigators do not believe this incident has any connection to the suspicious death in the Weyburn area on.
