The Regina Police Service (RPS) says residents may notice an increased officer presence on Wednesday in certain areas while a day long training operation takes place. The training exercise will involve members of the aerial support and canine units, according to a news release from RPS. Residents may notice an increased officer presence in Lakewood, Eastview (1200 block of Elliot), 1st Avenue North and Winnipeg Street and Fleet Street near Ross Avenue. “People in these areas may hear sirens. These activities are part of routine training and there is no cause for concern,” the news release said. Training began at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the first scenario scheduled to start at 1 p.m., and the last expected to end around 7 p.m., according to Regina police. Regina police added the training sessions are not open to the public or media.
